Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is the application of yogic techniques for addressing a wide variety of health conditions, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, women's health, and injury rehabilitation.

From a yogic perspective, vibrant health is a symptom of a balanced state.  Conversely, illness, pain, and discontent are symptoms of imbalance in our lives.  A yoga therapist will assess your current state and assign a personalized yoga practice designed to help you achieve balance, creating the optimal conditions for your body to safely and naturally heal itself.

Yoga therapy IS NOT
  • intended as a replacement for medical attention from a qualified physician or psychotherapist.
Yoga therapy IS
  • a gentle approach toward holistic health and pain-free living.
  • the perfect complement to conventional medical care.
  • an affordable means of continuing care after a prescribed physical therapy course or medical regimen has been completed.

Your Yoga Therapy Session

In your first therapy session, you will complete an information form about your current condition and health goals.  I will ask you a few questions based on the information you provide and we will do a short practice together.

You will leave your session with a personalized yoga practice and a set of lifestyle recommendations designed to help you heal.  Ideally, we will continue to meet on a regular basis and alter your practice appropriately as your state moves in the direction of balance.
